This document governs the Buried Beneath Vault service and should be read together with the other Buried Beneath Vault legal documents. Nothing in these documents excludes or restricts rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK consumer or data-protection law.

1. What membership is

Buried Beneath Vault membership is a rolling monthly subscription. It gives access to the Vault research tools and includes a monthly allowance of Find identification credits and Land Intelligence credits.

The current price and monthly allowance are always shown on the Membership page before you pay. That page is the authoritative statement of the offer at the time of purchase.

2. Recurring payment and renewal

Membership renews automatically each month on the same payment method until it is cancelled. Each renewal is taken by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details.

If the price of membership changes for future periods, existing members are told in advance and may cancel before the change takes effect.

3. Credits, rollover and expiry

Credits are a service allowance, not money, currency or a stored-value instrument. They have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred between accounts.

Membership credits are used first, then any bonus credits, then credits you have bought. Unused membership credits roll over up to the caps shown on the Membership page. Purchased and bonus credits do not expire while your account remains open.

A credit is reserved when an analysis starts and consumed when the report is delivered. If the analysis fails for a technical reason before delivery, the reserved credit is returned automatically.

3a. Geographic coverage and Land credits

Land Intelligence and Earthwork Intelligence are currently available only for locations in England. A location outside England is rejected before analysis begins.

No Land credit is reserved or consumed for a rejected non-England location. A Land credit continues to be reserved only when a valid supported analysis actually starts, and is consumed when the report is delivered.

Find Identification is unaffected by this geographic restriction and remains available UK-wide.

4. Top-up credit packs

Top-ups are one-off purchases of additional credits at the prices shown at the time of purchase. They are added to your balance once payment is confirmed and follow the same usage rules as membership credits, except that they are used last and do not expire while your account is open.

5. Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, membership may move to a past-due state while the payment provider retries or asks you to update your card. New membership credits are not granted for a period that has not been paid for, and we will not knowingly consume paid credits the account is not entitled to use.

6. Cancellation and access

You can cancel at any time from the Membership page. Cancellation stops the next renewal; your membership stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you can resume before that date. Ordinary cancellation does not by itself give a refund for the current period.

If you are a consumer, you may have statutory cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, normally for 14 days from the date the contract is made, where those rights apply. This is separate from ordinary membership cancellation and is not a money-back guarantee.

Where you expressly ask us to begin providing services or digital content during the applicable cancellation period, those rights may be affected. In particular, statutory rights relating to digital content may be lost once supply begins where the legal requirements for express consent and acknowledgement have been met. For services begun at your request, any refund due may take account of services already supplied. Asking for immediate supply does not by itself remove every possible cancellation right for the whole membership.

If you wish to exercise a statutory cancellation right, please contact Buried Beneath LTD by email at support@buriedbeneath.co.uk, clearly stating that you wish to cancel under your statutory cooling-off rights and giving the email address of your Vault account. Using the Cancel membership button on its own stops future renewal; it is not treated as a statutory cancellation request.

These are two different options. Cancel future renewal stops the next payment; access and credits continue until the end of the paid period and no refund is given. Where your Membership page shows it, the in-app cooling-off refund route is available instead; the Refunds & Cancellation Policy explains the eligibility and process. When that route is submitted, your monthly subscription credits are removed immediately and another membership cannot be started while the refund is pending.

After access ends, your Vault becomes read-only for a limited retention period so you can export what you want to keep. The Refunds & Cancellation Policy and Privacy Notice explain the retention periods that then apply.

7. Fair and lawful use

Membership is for one account holder. Automated bulk extraction, resale of reports as a competing product, or sharing account access are not permitted and may result in suspension. We may apply reasonable technical limits to protect licensed third-party data sources.

8. Changes to these terms

We may publish a new version of these terms. The version you accepted is recorded against your account, and material changes affecting future periods will be notified before they apply.

9. Version history

Version 1.3, effective 28 September 2026 (current): clause 6 distinguishes Cancel future renewal from the in-app cooling-off refund route; version 1.2 is retained unchanged. Version 1.2, effective 28 September 2026: clause 6 separates ordinary cancellation from statutory cooling-off rights and explains how to exercise them; version 1.1 is retained unchanged. Version 1.1, effective 8 September 2026: adds clause 3a on the England-only coverage of Land Intelligence and Earthwork Intelligence and confirms that no Land credit is reserved or consumed for a rejected location. Pricing, allowances, rollover, payment, cancellation and refund terms are unchanged. Version 1.0, effective 29 August 2026, is superseded from 8 September 2026 and retained unchanged as the historical record.

These documents apply to Buried Beneath Vault only. They are separate from, and do not replace, the terms of any other Buried Beneath LTD product or event platform.
